Is my warranty covered?
At Halfords, we only use approved suppliers for OE parts or OE equivalent quality parts which meet the quality criteria set out in the Block Exemption Regulations (BER).
The BER is a regulation which ensures your vehicle warranty is not affected if the non-original brand (OE parts) are fitted, provided they meet the strict quality level set out in the regulations and you maintain your vehicle in line with manufacturer parts replacement intervals.
We will advise you of any parts that need to be replaced in line with manufacturer intervals and provide a no-obligation quote to complete the work required, these items include the timing belt, fuel filters, pollen filters and spark plugs.
So, rest assured all servicing and repair work completed at Halfords will not invalidate your car’s warranty and is covered by our 2-year/24,000-mile guarantee*
What are the Block Exemption regulations?
Block Exemption regulations – A regulation that confirms non-OE parts do not invalidate any vehicle warranty [EU 461/2010] and that vehicle manufacturers must share technical information and specifications on all components with other parts suppliers. EU legislation aimed at helping reduce the costs of maintaining and repairing your car.
What are OE parts?
Original Equipment (OE) – These can be identical parts as the original or the same design made by the same supplier but under a different brand.
What are OE equivalent quality parts?
Aftermarket parts – Designed to be equivalent to OE parts and meet strict quality tolerance levels set by BER and all relevant legislation.
What parts do Halfords use on a Halfords menu service?
Typically, we will use OE equivalent quality parts (also known as aftermarket parts) on our standard services available online. As covered above, this does not invalidate your warranty.
Can Halfords provide a quote for a manufacturer service using OE parts?
Yes, but this is only available if you call our garage to get a quote, our garage will check the service you require for your vehicle and provide a specific quote which will use OE parts as standard.
Can Halfords provide a quote using OE parts for my repair?
If OE parts are available, we can provide a comparative price vs aftermarket parts, but please bear in mind this will likely be a higher cost and may not be immediately available – please mention this when booking with your local Halfords garage.
Annual car servicing
Every vehicle needs annual servicing to ensure any faults are found and the vehicle is in the best possible condition. We recommend you have a full service every year and consider a major service every 2 years alternately.
- Halfords full service – 12-month vehicle service
This is a comprehensive annual service for trouble-free motoring. It exceeds most manufacturer’s service schedules and includes 77 checks and adjustments including an engine oil and oil filter change, an air filter change, a top up of brake fluid, power steering fluid and coolant. High-quality parts are used, and we check and record wear and tear items using a colour code reporting system, to give you that added peace of mind.
- Halfords major service – 24-month vehicle service
This 24-month complete service covers all areas of essential maintenance. In addition to all the items included in our full service, the major service covers items that are regularly recommended by manufacturers for replacement every two years, including your cabin filter and hydraulic brake fluid.
- Combine a service with an MOT
If your MOT is due, why not combine it with one of our services? Keeping the anniversary of your MOT and service together makes it much less likely that you will forget to book one or the other. Also, booking together saves you time and money, because you don't have to make two separate trips to the garage.
Save money, book your MOT and Service together to save up to £39!
