Which oil do I need?

Think of vehicle maintenance and an oil change is probably the first thing that comes to mind. We all know that low oil levels and overused engine oil are to be avoided.

There are many different types of oil and it's crucial to understand that no single type is suitable for all makes and models.

In regard to the oil you choose, we would recommend using the type your car manufacturer has recommended. You can also use our handy online look-up tool to find the right engine oil for your vehicle.

A general guide to Oil

In a nutshell, engine oil lubricates your engine’s moving parts to reduce the damaging friction that reduces performance. Driving with low oil levels can significantly reduce the life of your vehicle.

If your vehicle runs on conventional oils you will need to change your engine oil more frequently. That’s because this type of oil has a lower resistance to heat and oxidation.

This resistance is higher in full synthetic oils, which last up to twice as long between oil changes. Better anti-friction properties, engine responsiveness and fuel economy also help extend the life of your engine.
