Which car service do I need and what’s included?
A regular service can make sure your car runs smoothly and prevent any serious – and expensive - faults. You can save money and avoid costly repairs with some routine car maintenance and servicing.
The three levels of service are designed to meet the needs of cars no matter their age, condition or history, and all our work is protected by our Quality and Price Guarantee for your peace of mind.
Interim service - 6 months/6,000 miles
Please note we advise you to get an interim service every 6 months or in between annual services (if you are exceeding 2,000 miles a month)
What's included?
Our Interim Service is focused on keeping your car on the road for as long as possible. It starts with a 50-point safety check, which identifies any issues which could lead to a costly and inconvenient breakdown.
The oil and filter in our car will be replaced with an OE or equivalent replacement. This will protect your engine and maintain your warranty. All work is guaranteed for up to 12 months (or 12,000 miles).
Full Service - 12 months/12,000 miles
Please note we advise you to get a full service every year (or 12,000 miles)
What's included?
During a Full Service, a mechanic will carry out a 77-point check of your vehicle, assessing the condition of all crucial parts, systems and components. They will inspect key safety and mechanical systems, ensuring everything is functioning as it should.
As part of a Full Service, you'll get an oil change and new oil and air filters. They will also check and top up brake fluid, gearbox fluid, AdBlue, and coolant and top up the screenwash if needed.
One of the most important parts of a Full Service is the detailed vehicle inspection of your car by an expert. They can spot any mechanical, electrical and safety issues that could cause an MOT fail – and more importantly, affect your safety on the roads.
At Halfords, we go further than most main-dealer service packages, getting to the heart of your car to ensure it's safe.
Major service - 24 months/24,000 miles
Please note we advise you to get a major service every 2 years (or 24,000 miles)
What's included?
The Major Service is our most comprehensive car service which includes everything you get in a Full Service, with some added extras that manufacturers recommend are replaced every two years. The Major Service includes a Brake Fluid Change (worth £39.99), and a Cabin Filter replacement (worth a minimum of £30).
Included in all services we also carry out final checks:
- Reset vehicle service light, subject to data & equipment availability
- Stamp service book (indicating a Halfords Garage Menu Service has been carried out)
- Vehicle road test
