EU tyre labels
When buying new tyres, it’s useful to know how fuel efficient they are, what level of wet grip they provide or how much noise they produce, and that’s where EU (European) tyre labels come in handy.
EU tyre labels provide clear information on the safety and environmental characteristics of a tyre and these labels are split into three categories: fuel efficiency, wet grip and noise.
Labelling update
On 1st November 2012, the EU regulation on labelling of tyres became a legal requirement for both manufacturers and retailers of tyres.
The label which is displayed at the point of sale provides information on fuel efficiency, wet grip and external rolling noise through clear pictograms. The label allows motorists to make informed choices when buying tyres, ranked on a scale from A (best) to G (worst).
