What is the towing speed limit?

The Highway Code section lays out that the maximum speed a car with a trailer, caravan etc. can be driven is 60mph on UK motorways and dual carriageways and 50mph on other types of roads (providing no lower speed limit is in force). Please remember that you can't enter the furthest right hand lane on a carriageway with three or more lanes.

This does not apply to towbar-mounted cycle carriers, as these are not considered to be towing an item behind a vehicle because it's not in contact with the road.
