How much is bike insurance?​

The cost of cycling insurance will depend on several factors including the cost of your bike(s) and your address. You can find out the exact cost of a Cycleplan policy by getting a quote.

Is my bike covered under home insurance?

This will depend on your home insurance provider. You’ll probably have to add your bike onto your policy for an extra charge, and even then, it may not be insured when you’re away from home.​

Will cycling insurance cover a stolen bike?

Will my bike be covered for theft if it’s left at a bus or train station?

What’s covered in my Cycleplan free 14-day insurance policy?

The Cycleplan free 14-day insurance policy is open to bikes worth up to £4,000. The policy covers theft of your bike at home, away from home, or in a vehicle, and accidental or malicious damage to the bike.

What happens after my Cycleplan free 14-day insurance policy expires?

Cycleplan will invite you to take out an annual policy so that you can continue to insure your bike. You’ll also be able to add additional bicycles to the policy and extra cover options.

Are my accessories covered under the Cycleplan free 14-day insurance policy?

No, the Cycleplan free 14-day insurance policy only covers your bicycle. If you’d like to insure your accessories, you can select this cover option as part of a Cycleplan annual policy.

I didn’t purchase my bike from Halfords. Can I still apply for the Cycleplan free 14-day insurance policy?

Unfortunately, the Cycleplan free 14-day insurance policy is only open to those who have purchased a bike from Halfords. However, you can take out a Cycleplan annual policy to insure a bike that you haven’t purchased from Halfords.

I purchased my bike from Halfords some time ago. Can I still apply for the Cycleplan free 14-day insurance policy?

Yes, you can still apply for the Cycleplan free 14-day free policy as long as you purchased your bicycle from Halfords.

Can I take out the Cycleplan free 14-day insurance policy on multiple bikes that I’ve purchased from Halfords?

Yes, but you’ll need to set up separate free policies for each bike. If you then decide to take out an annual policy after the 14-day period, you can insure bikes worth up to £30,000 on one policy.
